Zach Handelman is a Managing Partner at Meyer Handelman Company, where he brings an engineering mindset to wealth management—applying systems thinking, data-driven analysis, and disciplined process to portfolio strategy and firm operations. As a fourth-generation member of the family that founded MHCo in 1933, Zach combines a deep respect for the firm’s heritage with a commitment to continuous improvement on behalf of the client families the firm serves.
Before joining MHCo, Zach spent nearly nine years at UTC Aerospace Systems (now Collins Aerospace, a division of RTX) as a Project Engineer managing the development of the Airbus A320neo Electronic Engine Control for the PW1100G engine. He coordinated cross-functional teams through design, regulatory certification, and production transition—developing the analytical rigor and project discipline that inform his approach to investment management today.
Zach subsequently joined the G. Harold & Leila Y. Mathers Charitable Foundation, serving as Director of Operations and later Vice President and Treasurer. He modernized grant administration systems, established a scientific advisory board, and oversaw the foundation’s $450 million endowment. During this time, he studied Nonprofit Financial Stewardship at Harvard Kennedy School, deepening his expertise in institutional asset management.
At MHCo, Zach oversees investment strategy across the firm’s client families, spanning equities, fixed income, and alternative investments. He has led comprehensive modernization efforts—upgrading technology infrastructure, implementing systematic investment processes, and strengthening the advisory team—while maintaining the long-term, relationship-driven approach that client families have relied on for generations.
Zach serves on the Board of Trustees for Western New England University, where he also sits on the Investment Committee and Finance Committee. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Western New England University, a B.S. in Economics from Quinnipiac University, and an M.S. in Systems Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Outside of work, Zach enjoys hiking, skiing, mountain biking, car racing, and sporting clays with his 11-year-old son.
